The neighborhood is genuine tidal waterfront — not the creek-adjacent positions that many Annapolis neighborhoods claim as “waterfront” but the real deal: the South River comes up into Harness Creek on extreme tidal events, southwest winds push Bay salt spray directly into Hillsmere Shores from the open South River, and the neighborhood’s character is shaped by its direct relationship with the tidal water.
